Signs You Have Rats or Mice

Rodents leave a trail long before anyone sees one.

• Droppings in a line along skirting, inside the sink cabinet or on top of the water filter.
• Gnaw marks on cable insulation, plastic storage lids and the corners of wooden doors.
• Scratching or scurrying overhead after lights out, usually in the false ceiling or loft.
• Greasy rub marks where fur repeatedly brushes a wall edge or pipe.
• Shredded paper, cloth or coir pushed into a corner of a store room or utility area.

House mice and roof rats dominate in apartments, moving through ducting and cable routes. The larger bandicoot works up from stormwater drains into ground-floor and older homes. Which one you have changes where the stations go.

Our Treatment Process

Rodent work is about placement. Bait in the wrong spot is ignored; bait on a run is taken within a night or two.

1. Mapping the runs. The technician follows droppings, rub marks and gnaw damage to find the routes in and the harbourage, rather than guessing from where you heard the noise.
2. Tamper-resistant bait stations. Rodenticide goes into locked stations along the runs — utility areas, shaft openings, behind appliances — out of reach of children and pets.
3. Indoor glue traps. Where bait is unsuitable, such as inside a kitchen, non-toxic glue boards are placed along wall edges. These are checked and removed at the follow-up.
4. Entry-point survey. We list the specific gaps letting them in and how to close each — more on that below.
5. Follow-up. We check the stations, replenish where bait has been taken, remove traps and confirm activity has stopped.

Chemicals We Use

Rodenticides we use are registered with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC) and are deployed only inside locked, tamper-resistant stations — never loose. Glue boards carry no toxicant at all.

Service Warranty

Rodent control carries a 6-month service warranty. If activity returns inside that window we re-treat at no extra charge. Sealing matters more here than with any other pest: an open drain trap or a gap at the AC sleeve lets a new animal in whatever we place, and we will say if that is what we see.

Where Rodents Get In, and How to Close It

• Fit a wire mesh cap over open drain traps in the utility and bathroom.
• Seal the annular gap around AC pipe sleeves — the single most common entry we find in flats.
• Add a brush strip or sweep to doors with daylight visible underneath.
• Mesh over exhaust fan openings and unused ventilator grilles.
• Close cable and plumbing chases where they pass through a wall.
• Keep grain, pet food and bird feed in metal or thick plastic, not sacks.

After-Treatment Care

• Do not move the bait stations. They are placed on the run; shifting one to a tidier spot stops it working.
• Expect activity to drop over three to seven days, not overnight. Rodents approach new objects cautiously.
• A dead rodent smell is possible if one dies in a cavity. Call us and we will locate it where we can.
• Keep the sealing work going. Treatment removes the current population; the gaps decide whether a new one arrives.
• Tell us if you hear movement again and we will bring forward the follow-up.
