Telltale Signs of Rats or Mice

You will find the evidence well before you meet the animal.

• Dark, tapered droppings collecting behind the gas cylinder, in the store room or along a skirting run.
• Chewed edges on wiring, plastic containers, and the base of a wooden door.
• Night-time scurrying overhead in the false ceiling or on the terrace slab.
• Dark smear lines at the corner of a wall or where a pipe leaves the plaster.
• Nesting material — shredded newspaper, jute, insulation — heaped in a corner of a loft or utility.

Roof rats and house mice work the upper levels of apartment blocks via cable shafts and ducting. The heavier bandicoot comes up out of stormwater drains and open nalas, which is why ground-floor units, shops and godowns in the older parts of the city and around Secunderabad see it more often.

Our Treatment Process

Everything depends on placement. A station on the run is visited the first night; the same station two feet off it does nothing.

1. Reading the site. Droppings, smear lines and gnaw damage tell the technician where the animals travel and where they shelter, which is rarely where the noise was heard.
2. Locked bait stations. Rodenticide sits inside fixed, tamper-resistant boxes placed on those runs — utility areas, shaft mouths, behind heavy appliances — so it cannot be reached or spilled.
3. Glue boards indoors. In kitchens and living areas we use non-toxic boards along wall edges instead of bait, and collect them at the follow-up.
4. Proofing list. We identify each gap that is letting them in and what closes it, which is set out below.
5. Follow-up visit. Stations are checked and topped up where bait has been taken, boards removed, and activity confirmed as stopped.

Chemicals We Use

Rodenticides are Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC) registered and are never laid loose — they go only into locked stations. Glue boards contain no toxicant.

Service Warranty

Rodent work carries a 6-month service warranty, and we return and re-treat at no charge if activity restarts within it. Proofing decides the long-run result more than the bait does: leave an uncapped drain trap or an open AC sleeve and a new animal simply walks into the space the last one left.

The Gaps That Let Rodents In

• Cap open drain traps in the utility, bathroom and kitchen with a fixed wire mesh.
• Fill the ring gap around AC copper-pipe sleeves, by far the most common entry we find in flats.
• Fit a brush seal to any door showing daylight along the bottom.
• Mesh unused ventilators and exhaust fan cut-outs.
• Close service chases where cable or plumbing passes through a wall.
• Store rice, grain and pet feed in metal or thick plastic rather than sacks.

After-Treatment Care

• Leave the stations where they are. Moving one to a tidier corner takes it off the run and stops it working.
• Give it three to seven days. Rodents are wary of new objects and will circle a station before taking from it.
• An odour is possible if an animal dies inside a cavity. Call us and we will recover it where it can be reached.
• Get the proofing done. Treatment clears the current occupants; the gaps decide whether replacements arrive.
• Tell us if the noise starts again and we will bring the follow-up forward.
