Signs of Termite Activity

Subterranean termites stay inside the wood or the mud they build, so the evidence is indirect.

• Mud tubes running up a plinth, wall corner or pillar — pencil-width trails of packed soil.
• Wood that sounds hollow when tapped, particularly door frames and skirting near the floor.
• Blistered or rippled paint on a wall, where activity sits just behind the surface.
• Discarded wings on window sills and near tube lights after the first heavy rains.
• Soil-packed joints in wardrobes and kitchen units standing against an outer wall.

Bengaluru sits on red lateritic soil with a long monsoon, and swarming follows the first serious rain. Older homes with timber frames are most at risk, but new apartments are not immune where the plinth was never treated.

Our Treatment Process

Which method applies depends on whether the building exists yet. Both work by putting a treated barrier between the soil and the structure.

1. Inspection and quotation. We measure the affected and at-risk runs, identify entry points and quote on running metres rather than a flat rate.
2. Pre-construction soil treatment. For buildings under construction, termiticide goes into the foundation trench, the fill before the slab and around the plinth, forming a treated layer beneath the finished floor.
3. Drilling. For a standing building, holes are drilled at roughly 12-inch intervals along the wall-floor junction and around door frames and pillars.
4. Filling. Termiticide emulsion is injected under pressure into each hole until the soil below is charged, creating a continuous barrier along the treated line.
5. Sealing. Holes are sealed and finished flush. Wooden fixtures showing activity are treated separately by injection into the affected joints.

Chemicals We Use

The termiticides we apply are registered with the Central Insecticides Board & Registration Committee (CIB&RC) and diluted to the concentration stated on the label. Application is into soil and drilled holes below floor level rather than onto living surfaces.

Termite work is not sold by flat size. Cost depends on the running metres of wall-floor junction drilled, the number of door frames and pillars, and whether timber needs separate injection.

We inspect first, then quote in writing before drilling starts, at no charge and with no obligation. For pre-construction work the quote is based on plinth area and the stage your build has reached.

Service Warranty

Post-construction treatment carries a warranty of up to 5 years, with the exact term set out in your quotation. Within that period we re-treat affected sections at no additional charge. Renovation that breaks the barrier — new flooring, a knocked-through wall — affects cover, so tell us before that work starts.

What to Expect on the Day

• Clear a working strip of about two feet along the walls being treated.
• Move furniture away from skirting, and empty wardrobes standing against outer walls.
• Expect drilling noise and dust; we sheet and clean as we go, but it is not a quiet job.
• Lift rugs and take fragile items off low shelves along the treated runs.
• Plan for children and pets to be out of the treated rooms during the work and for 2-3 hours after.
• Tell the technician about underfloor plumbing or conduit runs before drilling begins.

After-Treatment Care

• Leave the sealed holes alone for a week so the finish sets properly.
• Do not drill, tile or re-floor the treated line without telling us — that breaks the barrier and affects the warranty.
• Some swarmers may still appear for a couple of weeks as the colony under stress moves. That is expected.
• Avoid heavy washing along the treated junction for a few days.
• Report any new mud tube, however small, and we will inspect it under the warranty.
